SCAM ALERT - Warning About Online Hotel Reservations

Planning your next trip? Add this item to your travel checklist: double, triple, quadruple check your hotel reservation. Scammers have set up websites designed to look like legitimate hotel sites in order to take your credit card information and give you nothing in return. They have names like Reservationcounter.com, Reservationdesk.com, and Hotelsone.com. If you make a reservation with one of these entities, you could end up walking into the hotel where you thought you had a reservation and walking right back out again if no rooms are available.

To make the situation even more complex, there are some sites out there for third parties that legitimately do take reservations for hotels.

To make sure you get a real hotel reservation, take the following steps: Go directly to the site of a hotel chain you're already familiar with.

Thoroughly check out any site you're considering making a reservation on, and read the fine print on any reservation you want to make.

If you're dealing with a third-party site that seems legitimate, be sure to follow up with the actual hotel to confirm your reservation.

Pay with a credit or debit card that offers protection for you the consumer.

If you do end up being scammed, contact your credit card company immediately and get in touch with the Federal Trade Commission to file a complaint. Take these extra precautions to make sure scammers don't ruin your vacation before it starts.

This Month's FAQ - How Do I Remove Something Posted On Mt Facebook Timeline?

Question: One of my friends posted something on my Facebook Timeline that I don't think is appropriate. Can I remove it?

Answer: Yes, it's easy to remove items (Facebook calls them "stories") that you or your friends post on your Timeline. Just follow these steps:

1. Go to your Timeline and scroll to the story you want to remove.

2. Click the downward arrow in the upper-right corner of the story.

3. Choose Hide from Timeline to remove the story from your Timeline. When you use this option, the story will still be on Facebook, but others won't be able to see it.

To delete the story entirely, choose Delete.

1. If you don't want something you're tagged in to appear on your Timeline, you'll need to remove the tag. To do this, click the downward arrow and select Remove Tag. The post will no longer appear on your Timeline, but it may still be visible in other places on Facebook, such as the News Feed.
